Your hardworking editor will be working with PhD students at the RMIT campus in Vietnam next week – and hopefully getting to eat large bowls of pho!
I’m not sure that I will have ready internet access or time to blog as the schedule looks very busy. Instead I will wish you “tốt bằng văn bản” (good writing) for next week and catch you on the 21st of February.
Hi Inger,
I am so frustrated with my supervisor and his assistant. I am doing my PhD from a distance (overseas). I have already written over 20,000 words and sent it to my supervisor at RMIT but he still has not come back to me with feedback on the last three papers I wrote. In one year I met him Skype twice. The assistant supervisor was in neither meetings. I was supposed to have a meeting with them on 22 December and we are now well into Feb.
I am between a rock and a hard place. I am following up with them both and after two months he calls me after I pleaded with him with several messages on Skype to get in touch. in a five minute conversation he told that I should start thinking about starting to do the field work. He has not even started to read my work yet and I never heard from the assistant supervisor except her sending me an email telling that she read the papers and has some significant points to discuss, that was a month ago and I heard nothing since then.
what do I do? I do not want to piss either of them off. I heard horror stories about pissed off supervisors making the life of candidates hell. Please advise.
